Decorating the Nursery

Picked up the cot today and Dave put it all together, it looks really nice.

He got the border on the wall, the light shade up, the picture frames on the wall, and the bedding on the cot.

It looks gorgeous and I have even come round to the bright yellow, which doesn't look as bad as it did!

Our only other problem is that the room is really hot, it was 28 degrees on the baby thermometer and that's the highest temperature it goes up to!

After having a good day yesterday, I'm not feeling well again today, it's getting me down, I can't do anything! I am having problems keeping my blood sugar in check too, it's going high, after eating the same lunch or breakfast that I have been eating all week! It doesn't make sense.

Diabetes Update

Had another appointment at St James today, they are pleased with the way my diet is going and at the moment I don't need to take tablets :o)

And they said my lack of energy is a virus, nothing to do with my diet, so hopefully I will be back at work soon :o)

Diabetes Clinic

I had 2 appointments at St James yesterday, Physio in the morning, then the Diabetes Clinic in the afternoon.

I have been diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes :o(

I saw the Consultant, Obstetrician, a Diabetic Nurse and a Dietician! It was quite overwhelming, lots of information to take in and I got pretty upset. They say it's not down to my diet, although I don't quite believe them, I blame myself.

Baby is producing insulin for me because I am not producing enough, but the transfer of insulin can only go from me to baby, not baby to me, so hence why its stomach is enlarged. This could lead to it being diabetic and also a difficult delivery as its stomach shouldn't be bigger than its head :o(

Dave has been a little star, looking after me and sorting me, and my diet out, he is doing the diet with me bless him, he has been my rock :o)

Well we had another baby scan today, baby is 3lb 7oz! Apparently the baby's stomach is a little on the big side, and they think I may have diabetes, I have to go to the day unit tomorrow for a test. :o(

Shopping in Leeds

I met up with Karen in Leeds, she was a bad influence and made me buy some maternity clothes! I tried to resist honest!

We then came home via Sainsburys and bought tea, then went to pick up some yummy strawberrys from the field stall round the corner.

Karen also got us some lovely picture frames for a wedding present for us.

We had a lovely day, it was just what I needed to cheer me up!

Cumbria

I had a lovely time in Cumbria with my mum and dad, apart from the final few days being marred by a letter from work.

I visited Workington Infirmary and bumped into Barbara, Claire, Margaret & Angela, it was really nice having a quick catch up! I also met up with Bev and went out for tea with her, we had a good gossip as usual!

It was great fun picking Jason up from school and I even bumped into one of my old school mates Julie Parker, who was picking her little girl up! We had a brief little chat, and she was lovely.

On the way back we stopped off for breakfast at Little Chef and we saw some lovely old caravans on their way to Appleby fair!

I came back home to a lovely surprise, Dave had taken the day off work to surprise me! I was so chuffed and emotional!

And the central heating was all finished! It's great having hot water when you want it! And I was surprised how good the house was, I was expecting to come home to mess!
